Mohegan Sun is a premier entertainment and gaming facility in Uncasville, Connecticut. I designed and programmed the 2007 upgrades to the background music and paging system, providing control of 196 zones using a MediaMatrix NION processing core with distributed QSC BASIS nodes. The system runs on a Cisco network infrastructure, with CobraNet handling digital audio transport between the amplifier rooms.
Updates began in 2015 to migrate the system to Q-SYS, starting with the 275,000-square-foot ballroom and meeting spaces.
Scheduling of music sources and volume levels was a priority for the end users. I developed a custom application integrating the familiar Outlook calendar interface with the background music system: the Outlook Calendar Command Interface (OCCI). Users schedule an event in Outlook, then build music and volume scenes within that event through a custom VB form.

The feature bar includes a custom fabricated mounting bracket for 360 degrees of HDTV coverage.
The Poker Room includes a distributed HDTV system consisting of dozens of displays. A sight line study was conducted to ensure that the majority of patrons had a view of at least one display.
The highly themed environment required careful engineering to maintain speaker coverage, while keeping loudspeakers above the themed elements.

The project included a complete upgrade to the system head end the entire property is controlled by a highly intuitive GUI
Color coded zone maps allow a quick status view of the system. Clicking on a zone will open up advanced controls.
A custom form was created and deployed in Microsoft Outlook allowing simplistic creation of muliti-scene events within a standard Outlook Calendar appointment.
A Visual Basic application was created which parses the outlook calendar and sends commands on cue to the Media Matrix. The program allows technicians to see upcoming events and confirmation that an event has successfully completed.
