Applied Minds won the Smithsonian American Art Museum's design competition for the Renwick Gallery Grand Salon. I provided AV design, engineering, and cost estimating, and built the full-scale mock-up shown below — a working proof of the projection, audio, and rigging design at true scale. The installation itself was ultimately not realized.
Design work was done in Revit, including detailed modeling of projectors, rigging systems, audio systems, and electrical infrastructure.
The design required precision engineering across pixel density, projector optics, imaging chips, projection surface materials, immersive audio, architectural acoustics, media servers, image mapping processors, ingestion workflow, signal distribution, routing, storage, automation, and visitor interaction.
